Richard Low, Sean Dennis and Mick Warren present acheque for £3000 to MAGPAS aircrew Pete Kelsey (pilot)and Scott Todd
Richard Low (Past Master), Sean Dennis (Charity Steward), Jeremy Crompton (Secretary and theman with the camera) and Mick Warren (ProvGChStwd) met with Emma Sanders (Community andEvents Liaison Officer), Pete Kelsey and Scott Todd (pilot and aircrew) at MAGPAS on 24thJuly.
The Lodge raised £1500 during Richard’s year as Worshipful Master. After meeting with one of thefounders of MAGPAS, Dr Neville Silverston, at a lake where they both go fishing and hearing about the work the MAGPAS does Richard made MAGPAS his charity during his year as Master. An application for match funding from Province raised a further £1500.
Every day MAGPAS saves lives across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and the East of England. Each air ambulance flight cost on average £3500 and MAGPAS receives no state funding making donations from individuals and organisations essential to raise the £6 million per year it costs to provide this life saving care.
The new airbase at Alconbury Weald has the facilities to meet with families of patients as well as providing aircrew and medical staff with sleeping accommodation, rest room and kitchen and a state of the art fully immersive training facility.
MAGPAS operates their helicopter 7am to 7pm and road vehicles 24hrs. In one week MAGPAS has been called out 34 times, attended incidents across five countries and visited more patients with medical emergencies (e.g. cardiac arrest) than any other type of incident.
